The Californian trip continued, last time I was up north San Francisco about an hour or two, we’re some friends threw me a party…. I wake up to find a vanagon with this license plate before my Hotel…. DUX was real famous (VW) toy builder in the fifty’s and sixties…. and the lady spoke Dutch as well! crazy world…:)
Only 30 minutes later i bought this Bay window Westfalia, rock solid, clean first paint in and out, the best catch of this trip? let’s wait and see, but till now, the best i found lately, by far!
And good as we are, we saved Paul’s early bay from under the tree we’re it was hiding for years, believe it or not, this was at a Bus station, thought it was cool to buy a VW bus in a bus station…:)
A little cruise through beautiful Sonoma wine country on my way to my next destination…
Italian influence is extreme her, sometimes You think you’re in Tuscany.
On my way to Bug O Rama in Sacramento, not alone it seems…:)
I arrived quiet late, but could not resist this from before my lens, a real “Bulldozer”….
With VW engine and drive gear! never seen before! believe it or not, I didn’t buy it!
Early morning, walk around and all in a sudden this rolls in, ranbehind it and bought it on the spot, 1959 westy tintop, stored for over 25 years under a barn, how cool is that?
Swap meet packed as ever, but this year to the extremes…
Cool buses are just part of the game
My friend Rich was pretty busy, but found time to help me out big deal, thanks Rich!
Woehaa, this is cool, Barndoor deluxe 23 window….
Everybody looked for some shade…:) a westy tent helps!
The Barndoor again…. yammie!
A little stroll in the pits, race cars everywhere, and horsepower at the big end….
And on to the carshow, I really used my entire entry fee! ….:)
Always a weak spot for cool license plates…
And more cool cars, very cool cars and extreme cool cars….
Baja anyone?
Or do you prefer a V8 in your splitwindow pick up truck?
General views always give good impressions…
Type 34, nice and clean!
When the V8 is in the pick up truck the VW is in the…..
……best rat we’re ever seen!
What’s in the bed baby?
Steel blue sky, crowded, hot, what a day!
A real shame we can’t register at home, Baja’s are so cool!
Now this is what we call a truck and trailer to toddle your race car around! cool stuff!
Some more race cars, some are real works of art!
Type 3 squareback an one of the finest color combo’s!
Rat look to different levels?
Or shall we call it rat look deluxe?
Can You resist? we couldn’t!
Turbo peaked out, always cool….
Lot of Karma for this Karmann!
A lot of knowledge here!
New Beetle Fastie…..
Slick…. what a machine….
and the back…..

Yes we do love America!
Bye bye Sacramento, on my way back to SFO I passed this giant shopping cart! V8 powered! real crazy…. only in america….
San Francisco is all about bridges, this was a real cool one….
Ok Gonzo, this one is for You!
Trusty rental did a great job, over 2000km in less then a week! Times are flying, mileage as well, I will bring this baby back to the rental company, and prepare for the next leg of my trip, off to the country of Cowboys, burgers and juicy steaks, Texas here we come!
Stay tuned, more will follow…
Good news for work a like people, BBT is currently on the lookout for a counter sales team member.

Just checking out the front parking lot is already fun to do!

On the service bridge was a little toy this time, we wouldn’t mind playing this around in some sand dunes for a while….:)
From Peninunsala it went to another VW friend, he lives very very close to VW paradise…. enjoy the pictures… bus craze…. hmmmmm
It started to get late so I had a two hour drive for my next stop, in crazy San Francisco rush hour, I better hurry up, so many things todo, so many things to see, just on the street in California….
Some friends up North threw me a party! Now this was a warm welcome, from here it went uphill!
Not a little bit, but a long drive up hill, this was pretty rural and a house in the middle of a state park, Sat Nav was blank!
