28 december 2013 - BBT Travels

This very first day we decided to kick of the whole event with a little group to experience the sunrise at the Borobudur Temple, this is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, and sunrise seems to be a very special experience there… we love to share this experience with You.

If we do something we do something in style! Before our Hotel lobby, Friday morning 03.30hr….

DSC05789_blog Buda and friends from Dakota club Indonesia (they call split window buses here Dakota, like the split window of the well known airplane) brought out 5 splits to do this trip, once we saw the buses we forgot the way too early hour right a way! The drive was magic!

DSC05813_blogWe rushed the splits through early morning traffic, believe me, traffic never stops in Indonesia! we drove about one hour and a little bit… This was the first view on the Borobudur Temple, its so MASSIVE!
DSC05827_blogEverything was nicely arranged and we rushed to to tops, many many steps, especially large steps! The early morning view was exciting!

DSC05828_blog let the show begin…

DSC05856_blog unbelievable spectacle of colors, wowh, its only take 5 or 6 minutes, but so beautiful, it must be the work of the Gods!

DSC05866_blog The temple itself is impressive as well, unbelievable big, incredible build, a whole story and history, the Temple was even “lost” for quiet a couple of centuries! I try to imagine how You can loose such a large work of art…

DSC05883_blogThere is 10 stories, starting from the bottom, clock wise from the east You can learn all about Buddhism and life, as after all that’s what’s Buddhism is all about… it read like a comic, and is made in all Buddha signs You can imagine… every art work is like a page, sometimes one line, sometimes two or more… I really hope I can come back one day and take my time to follow the whole way bottom to top…

DSC05911_blog an incredible massive building, with still many secrets…

DSC05941_blogAfter the visit we had a healthy local breakfast and decided to do some picture shooting from the buses in the entry park… welcome to tropical Indonesia…

DSC05948_blog the five buses from our little convoy!

DSC05966_blogOn the way back we did a little detour and we had to fuel up… this is DIRTY CHEAP, only 0.50 Euro for a litre!!! This must be a country of dream!

DSC05973_blog driving back the back roads was amazing, little farmers, working on their rice fields, all so natural, so simple, this is far away from our Western European hectic lives!

DSC05979_blog I even found a new weekend job at a local place!  Salak are brown fruits, very well tasting! We bought many!

DSC05986_blogSame stop I tried to get some “art pictures” local people, nice local setting and old VW’s, it don’t get better! The girl was so funny, I took at least 10 pictures with her!

DSC05991_blog Hi Buda, and Thanks so much for this trip, wowh man, You and the Dakota people really took care for us this morning….! How can we ever thank You????

DSC06007_blogLocal transport, yes, this still exist in 2013! Do You think these guy’s are worried about the capacity of a the new i phone? Happy life, easy, slow, and working… life can be simple!

DSC06027_blog Friday night was opening dinner, as a guest of honor we shared the table with the president of the Jogjakarta VW club, the organizer of this show!

DSC06033_blogEntertainment came from a century old native dance from Hindu period, I thought it was quiet fascinating!

DSC06052_blog and after that there was a little speech from yours truly…

DSC06054_blogTo be continued with the official pictures… left of me the president of the Federation of all Indonesian VW clubs, “Volkswagen Indonesia” they shelter no less then 75! clubs! Only Volkswagen! On my right the very special guest of this VW show, the Indonesian Minister of Sport and Youth, a real enthusiast and vivid Mercedes Benz and VW collector, what an honor to get a picture with these two important people!

DSC06065_blog and a picture with all representatives from the participating clubs to the event… wowh!

DSC06077_blog to finish the obligated “red carpet” picture from our family…

DSC06103_blog

today we will enter the show grounds to report tomorrow, so stay tuned!

27 december 2013 - BBT Travels

We had to say goodbye to Yanto today, as we will travel with Wawan to Yogyakarta…
But the way to the airport was “pretty special”…. as everything when you hang out with Yanto…

Thanks God we didn’t had to drive the scooter, as they have a lot of traffic problems too!

DSC05703_blog
And thanks God we didn’t had to work power lines neither… what a mess…

DSC05705_blog
Down the road we stopped for some traditional Bandung food for lunch…

DSC05714_blog
Yanto shows us how to eat Sambal, just pour in a good shot of Soy oil, now we know…

DSC05715_blog
Typical marionette puppets, extreme cool, and plenty around!

DSC05717_blog
Another traffic queue, and we think Antwerp traffic is bad?????

DSC05721_blog
The propeller airplane is waiting….

DSC05724_blog
Hey wait Wawan, we fly with you…

DSC05732_blog
Thank You!

DSC05737_blog
Our ride for the weekend wait for us at the airport, off course with driver, as Jogjakarta has loads of scooters too! Way to dangerous for skinny European drivers, you need real balls to drive a car here, and at least 14 eyes all around of your head….

DSC05740_blog
And Wawan’s own Mitsubishi Diesel powered bus, a real luxury saloon on wheels!

DSC05741_blog
After dinner, a nice picture…. Thanks so much to Smart Volksworks and Wawan, to arrange this ride for us!

DSC05777_blog
With FIVE on one scooter, helmets? what helmets…. crazy traffic in Indonesia… and everybody is happy and friendly….

DSC05779_blog
We go to bed early as we have to get up very early for a once in a lifetime experience, a mix of culture and VW, so stay tuned!
