24 november 2011 - Rare and for sale

Wowh, this was NOT a simple buy, I negotiated more than 6 months to buy the real king of patina split, and another couple of months to get my hands on the king of Jade! Mission completed, both cars are in the BBT warehouse now… it’s nice when a plan falls together….:)

The 1950 Split is astonishing all original, rock solid, a driver, a head turner, and before all, soooo cool! This was the kind a car I was looking for already 20 years ago, and even back then, loooooong before Internet messed up everything, I can only remember very few, good and nice like this crossing my paths… I hope I keep the car as long as necessary to do my detail and photoshoot to show the world this “coolest of cool” in detail… but buyers are circling in the air already…

Lady’s and Gentlemen This is the King of Patina, worldwide…

Seems Kings hate to travel alone, as same time the King of Jade arrived at BBT HQ… a very clean, pretty original 1960 ragtop beetle, mainly first paint in the one year only color combination of Jade Green… it was very special indeed, as this car literally sold only minutes after arrival…

An old original rocking chair was found and delivered with the cars, What old roof racks and rear racks are good for…

So sorry Grandma fell of during transport…

Once so many cars magic is happening. We don’t talk about blabla or fakie doo, but real magic. The magic of surviving, conditioning… unbelievable! Well here we tracked another one of these beauty’s, simply stunning, practically all original untouched, with some detail and help from the gods, you see what you see and you get what it is, an foremost original car that let you water mouth, that attracts more to bite in as a piece of candy, more sexy like Marilyn Monroe in her heydays!

The story behind this car is simple, very simple, it resided its whole life in Finland, not on the mainland but on one of the Islands, Åland, and as far as the story goes never left that place! Well the shape of the car confirm this story easily.

So what happened? When we got the car the underside was real well protected as they sprayed a tick pack of undercoating, nothing special as they did almost all of the cars in Scandinavia around that time, a typical seventies thing, it gave less noise, better on gravel, and should keep the rust away… well some did, other didn’t. Here it helped wonder well,  this car was really very extremely good, so we decided to get rid of all dirty undercoating and bring back nice and shiny paint, in inner fenders, rockers, floor plates, just everywhere! We succeeded wonder well! As we needed to paint the inside from the fenders, we decided to go for good, so we placed a NOS! front hood, we painted all four fenders inside out, front and rear valence and the four inner fenders, all the rest of the paint… is still factory original! Can you believe? And let me tell you another thing, the pictures of this car don’t do justice, in real this car is even ten times nicer!
