Very few cars seems to have just about “everything”, we get the honors with this to present you one of this rare birds!
From the M-plate we learn that this cutie is built on exactly Thursday November 4 from the year 1971 what makes it a 1972 model year. Production number was 7854. Destination code UA do tell us this baby was exported straight to Los Angeles, USA, place of Sun, beach, surfing and… rust-free cars! This is the first and nevertheless most important fact on this bus, rust-free!
What let this little gem stand out from the ordinary? First the BIG steel sliding roof, bay windows with these big sliders been called not for nothing the Samba bus of tomorrow. We included a new set of sliding roof cables, unfortunately some of the guides are still missing. Total seats seven, voted the best configuration by many, walk through in the front, two seater in the middle and a full width three seater in the back. Now here start the real special about this special edition… This rear seat in addition of a very well thought after and cleverly installed hinge mechanism turns this original rear seat into a bed in no time! Type 3’s are a different breath of Volkswagen that’s for sure! This particular car is not only good but also comes with its complete history what tell you completely why this baby is still so good! Some remarkable pictures and facts… ready to become a part of a serious collection, as better than this they will be extremely hard (if ever) to find.
The facts;
We present you here a car in remarkable original condition, 1500 S model with dual carburation and still original 6 volt, like it should. The car is 100% matching numbers, and beside a repaint from front clip all original first paint what was laid on the car at the assembly lines of the Volkswagen factory’s in 1964. The front clip was repainted in order to execute a light restoration, in no case there was an accident.
This car is in excellent working condition, it will drive you anywhere and clocked only 64.160km until today, (on an average that’s less than 1000 miles a year!) This is original mileage and can be proven!
Interior is all original, just how it left the factory in 1964.
In 2004 when current owner acquired this beauty he changed the muffler with a German NOS one, mounted 4 new shocks (Monroe), 4 new tires (the 5 original Bias ply tyres do still come separate with the car and are still ok to mount and show if you like) he also put new gaskets in the carburetors, new brakes (all NOS), etc. nice detail, all NOS parts been provided by second owner to third owner, some left overs are coming in this sale!
This baby was garaged for all its life, no more no less, always garage kept.
Very important detail, all paperwork and records that proof originality do come along with this car, unbelievable… and everything is true!… a real no nonsense top collectable…
