Mom took it a little more easy today, but still…  she helped Bert and Nicolas moving some tyres around, Gonzo is very happy moving transmission around and get them to pallets, Koen started to take cars apart… he gets help from Frederik, who seems to do just fine with wrenching. Linda was helping out where needed and i was sorting out all day smaller parts.

Between his transmissions Gonzo let also beetles “fly”….

and Koen takes them apart, most cars are just not valuable enough to pay for the expansive shipping. Koen try to cut up five cars a day…..

Finally our pallets and pallet boxes arrived, partially to ship our parts back home in the container, the other part is to ship the cores to the West Coast.

Strong guys? ….or strong forklift???

The last corner of the first warehouse, day 4 we should start on warehouse B

My new buddy Wayne, he picks up all the scrap and bring it to the dumpster, from tomorrow he will load three cars a day, sad to see them go crunched, but they’re life is over, and they are the bad ones, to cheap to restore…. they will proudly serve to get crunched, melted and made into new steel to build new cars… maybe there is a part of an old beetle in your new car…:)

On there way to the scrapyard…. Still an impressive sight huh????? stay tuned for more….

Oh yes, when I came back from Dallas two weeks ago and I told my Mom how sad  it was to see our friend Lyle suffering, and besides the facts I want to buy some cars and parts from him he actually would need help, Mom took decision only a very wise lady can take…. Let’s go with the family she said, and help to clean Lyle’s shop, so we help him and we’re together for a while and so we boarded last Friday for me ,the second time in 2 weeks, the KLM flight from Amsterdam straight to country of cowboy’s, JR, oil…. and Lyle Cherry…

Lyle Cherry…famous racer years ago, VW shop holder for 50 years, made more engines and transmissions then anybody else on planet earth and was several years NHRA world record holder, but before all my secret VW friend in Texas, a guy that walks, talks and breath Volkswagen exactly the way I do, very wise man, loads of experience, the word “mentor” is very light here!

Lyle is very ill and dying from cancer, he had to clean his shop, and give it back to the landlord, I bought part of the inventory and about 15 cars, and the deal is now we clean out all the rest, so for the next two weeks, Mom and Bert, Koen and Gonzo and me will be here, as it was school holiday Linda, Frederik and Nicolas came along for the week…. I will try to take pictures, but its so busy I mostly forget I confess… still here is a few from last three days….

The flight is long, sitting for 10 hrs gave Gonzo certain opportunity’s!

obligatory breakfast in the Waffle House!

First scrap trailer on the way, after 5 hours of work! All junk has to go, and there’s plenty gathered over the last 50 years here…

Forklift definitely helps moving cores and parts along…

Frederik found himself a chassis! a couple of parts to go, but it might drive soon Frederik!

Grinding axles from core transmissions, some drums simply didn’t came off! Koen in action!

we reorganised the back yard so all cars could be parked well, and from there we load the ones that will come to Belgium, and we cut up the ones that go to the scrap yard… Koen will have some work here!

Our scrap metal guys at work???? loading the trailer guys, more is coming soon!
