Yes, that’s how long it has been, that a couple of american VW friends decided to organise a “Back to the fatherland tour”
Thriving spirit behind the whole thing was Bill Collins and he gathered a whole bunch of VW friends from East and West Coast to participate on this crazy trip… all in early VW iron they wheeled all over the USA , UK and mainland Europe with Bad Camberg as their final destination.
We, at BBT HQ, hosted them a lunch break on their way through Belgium.
Here are some of the participants on the BBT parking lot, in front is Martha, the famous all original oval window beetle from Bill Bowmann from St Louis Missouri, co driver was Tom Niedernhofer before he moved to California.
Times flies as we all can see, but fond memories are here to stay forever!

Last but not least we have the seal between the Fuel floater and the gastank for the later years of the air-cooled crew. A dry or broken seal can give You a lot of gas odor inside the car, dangerous (gas burns You know) and not very nice neither!
