Come on, let’s face it… in this X-mass period we all want a good story, don’t we? Well here is ours!
Two weeks before X-mass we had what we call ” a very good catch”
It all started on Friday lunch time with the recovery of this “sleeper”, out of a garage from an old lady about 25 km from BBT HQ… the beetle belonged to the grand daughter and was not driven for the last 13 years… BBT recovery team striked a deal and pulled this beauty out of the little garage, ready to clean, detail and appear on the BBT website…
But the weekend was about just to begin, and a lot more was to do… Saturday morning we left very early in direction of Orleans, about 100km south of Paris. Since long I was discussing with my friend Jacky to empty his barn, and sell in consigment what was in it…
But when we arrived we we’re little surprised as we hardly could’nt find the place… was this the cave of Ali Baba?
We first had to cut the wood trees around and make ourselves an access…
but inside was full with all what we could hoped for…
a 1953 oval standard with “only” 60.000km (roughly about 40k miles)
isn’t that a 1946 beetle loaded in our boxvan?
and so much more… after several hours of loading we started the drive back, witha 1960 Arktis colour ragtop on the trailer…
Two full boxvans, and two full trailers, that’s what we call “a good catch”…
Finally I managed to have a certain quantity of the hard to find Weltmeister wheelcentercaps…
For those who are on the look out they understand how hard they are to find, and in a quantity like this its very weird… well If You need them just drop us a line, You know we have them now…
Original setup…
