Ragtops been installed as an option by the VW factory till 1963, followed by the steel sliding roof from 1964 on….except in Standard (non export) beetles…. in standards original factory ragtops been installed as (pretty rare) options till 1967, this is a very early production 1967 year model (fabricated August 1966) with this very weird option….
Talking about rare… any idea why somebody would save up cost and buy a standard beetle because no need for luxury but same time ordering a factory ragtop as an option at extra cost? A question I try to figure out already my whole (VW) life …
Fact is this is one, and therefore to be considered hens teeth rare! A standard beetle on its own is already very cool as it fits precisely the aim of a very spartan but well functional car a VW beetle really is….
This baby is a driver, You can drive it all over the place, brakes, engine, electrics all works, off course and as always we do recommend a full service before take this little gem on public roads….
The dashboard has absolutely nothing about luxury and only features what You really need to drive a car… the dash is also unhacked and there was never a radio….
No headliner on side posts… ah, standards didn’t had anything with full size headliners, but had a lot of paint inside in og body color, cool huh? Especially with that crazy hole in the roof….:)
Let the sun shine in! Ragtops are over practical, even in grey and rainy Belgium You drive ragtops open 9 months a year, so easy!
Interior is all there, needs to be re upholstered but the correct materials are available, so not too much of a problem…
Underneath the car might need some attention… or r-tear it all apart and make it a full resto, or drive with minor repairs as last owner did… your choice, anyway it has some works for sure, but is so special!
Tons of paperwork, mainly old bills going back to the sixties, do show this beetle was regularly serviced by its long time lady owner always at the official dealerships from the importer in and around Brussels Belgium… this baby has a real high pedigree!
Sitting in the sun it makes You dream doesn’t it? Yes we still dig them and this one is no exception!
Now… are You prepared to add some real rare VW to you stables? This baby is so rare, changes are very low You will ever finds another one, so don’t delay, don’t let this one slip away and contact Bob today….

Ever dreamed of a real and early Porsche 356, no ordinary B or C car, but a real A series?
VIN 101338 …. this is the real stuff…
As Porsche prices going trough the roof and prices paid for projects that need over 1000 Hours of labour on metal “resurrection” this is a gem for sure, as this car is really very very sound and solid.
Fenders rear left and right front been clipped during this princess life, but aside of that, it still has its original (solid) floors, where You gonna find another one?
Sat for decades in a heated garage in the North of the USA, hence the shape, this one was never left alone under a tree….
Mostly complete, seats, body panels etc… also the dash is pretty complete, that’s important.
The nose is for sure better than the average, we didn’t touch anything here, what You see is what You get! Battery tray need replacement, that’s actually the only real rot we could find….
Pedal cluster, fuel tap most electricity, all in a solid driver and passenger compartment.
Wowh, we do love original 356 floors… tells a lot about the whole car!
This baby is screaming for a restoration! Rear drums are Porsche… front drums VW, we can supply a period correct “A” engine and “A” type front brake drums for an extra…
Front windshield and some trim parts are included with this car.
We do dig them, don’t we? We worked hard and long to obtain this car, it was absolutely not an easy one, but hey, isn’t that what we’re knowing for? BBT brings You that different car, exclusive, and never been offered for sale no place for the last at least 25 years!
