Limited Edition: THE KÄFER 38/06 WATCH engineered by SCALFARO
SCALFARO Watch Co. & the Grundmann Family – collectors and restorers of rare Volkswagen – created a limited edition of mechanical watches using original material from the iconic Käfer VW38 (Chassis # 38/06). The DNA material originates from the original 1938 hand-built “Brezelkäfer” (Pretzel Beetle with rear split windows) -one of only three remaining VW38 prototypes in the world- recently discovered in Lithuania.
Each edition timepiece holds the DNA of Ferdinand Porsche’s early masterpiece “THE URKÄFER”.
The KÄFER 38/06 Edition is limited to 630 timepieces featuring a mechanical Swiss Hunter movement (hand-wound) incl. small second, a high-gloss polished black dial with design elements of the 38/06 speedometer, the 38/06 gearshift pattern and the split window, luminous hands, sapphire crystal, VW38/06 DNA watch case (ø 42mm), engraved caseback with split window and limited edition number, screwed lugs, black cordovan leather strap with folding buckle. another Sunday @ BBT HQ yesterday, Simon from UK came to BBT to swap his crew cab with a German buyer and pick up his SO23 project from us, meanwhile his buddy delivered the infamous Just Kampers Bay Window to another German guy, so all together it isn’t that bad Belgium is right in the middle between UK and Germany….:)
The patina SO23, wouldn’t mind it stayed a little longer, crazy car, very dry and and all original, interior needs to be redone, but where You gonna find another one? congrats Simon, You picked the right thing from the (BBT) stash…:)
