One of my favourite sports in California is to spot VW’s on the street, something I did the last weekend with my friend Reed on his garage sale tour..:)
So You ever saw a beetle with a nose?
Reed on garage sale full force!
A Ghia sitting on a drive way… cool uh?
Let’s get a close up from this baby!
Oval window ragtop, just sitting on the dealer lot, but it was a collector really…:)
cool little buildings everywhere…:)
67 beetle sitting on the street, wowh, only still in california…:)
Ok time to take the Volvo to the shippers now…
Car week is starting, so what we have in mind??? Today we will visit Ron Chuck, who put my super 90 engine on his dyno… stay tuned, it gonna be fun!
The weekend was a good one! Hanging out with a load of friends (thanks guys!) picking up our “new” Volvo and checking stuff out!
Last friday we start with the check out of the sell out of the George Barris shop.. F
or the total knowing nothing between You guys, George Barris was THE custom car builder for the movie industry, end customised more cars in his life as anybody else i know off… George most famous creations that everybody knows are the Batmobiles…
Unfortunately there was too much crowd no parking space so we could not work our selves in… but hey at least we’ve been on the land of the holy master himself!
Next stop was my buddy Reed in Ojai california… and saving the rusty Ghia behind his shop… this car is all rusted, but no rot!! Dry as a rock… will try to get this baby home as soon as I can..
All empty, only on wheels, good pan, crazy car!! All surface rust (completely) but no holes!! unbelievable!!
It served Reed as its bumper shelf… sorry Reed You will need to buy a real shelf now…:)
if you’re interested in this crazy baby, just let me know… Bob@BBT4VW.com
Ok loading up the 1961 Volvo P1800 build by Jensen in the UK and start driving North! What a beautiful load to travel this time!!
The cool thing about California is the diversity, You can find all modern restaurants, but nothing beats a good “healthy” breakfast in a typical american cafe…
This is the main street of Ojai, a quaint little town in the mountains between Ventura and Santa Barbara, sometimes You think the time stood still in some of this towns…
From Ojai we hit 33 North, this must be one of California’s finest… no traffic and at least as impressive as Pacific Coast Highway… this is California as California should be remembered!
we even spotted a VW splittie bus down the road!
Yes I towed the Volvo all over the mountains, that’s what I call fun, I love my rig and I love my trailer, they go everywhere I go! The perfect holiday!
Highway 33 ends into Highway 166 and we headed West, back to the coast…
Long straights, we just love them!!
What a weekend!! And the best has yet to come… Car Week is calling, so stay tuned for more cool Californian car stuff!
